Volkswagen servicing & repairs
Volkswagen servicing, repairs and diagnostics
Golf, Polo, Passat, Tiguan and the rest — VW servicing and repairs in Stockport without the main-dealer experience.
Our approach
Looking after your Volkswagen
VWs are the cars we see most, and that familiarity matters: we know which faults are genuine and which are symptoms of something else. Servicing is carried out to the manufacturer's schedule with the correct oil specification, so your service history stands up when you come to sell.
What we see most
Common Volkswagen faults
These are the issues that come through the workshop most often. If any of them sound familiar, book the car in and we'll confirm before quoting.
EA288 / TSI faults
Coil packs, thermostats and water pumps account for a large share of VW running problems.
DSG gearbox service
DSG boxes need fluid and filter changes at interval; skipping them is expensive later.
Wet timing belts
1.0 and 1.5 TSI belt-in-oil engines need attention at the right mileage.
Warning lights
Glow plug, EPC and engine lights are read properly rather than cleared and hoped over.

Common questions
How do I book my car in?
Use the booking form, call the workshop on 07757 605323 or send us a WhatsApp message. Tell us your registration and what the car is doing, and we'll come back to you to confirm a date.
Can you diagnose warning lights?
Yes. Fault codes are read across the vehicle's systems and checked against live sensor data so the cause is identified rather than guessed at.
Do I need to know what's wrong before booking?
No. Describe what the car is doing in your own words — a noise, a light, a smell, a feeling through the pedal. That is usually more useful to us than a self-diagnosis.
Can Stockport Recoveries bring my car to the workshop?
If the vehicle isn't driveable, Stockport Recoveries can help arrange recovery or transport to us. Mention it when you get in touch and we'll coordinate between the two.
Do I need an appointment?
Workshop visits are by appointment so we can allocate time to your vehicle properly. Please contact us before travelling.
Will you tell me the cost before doing the work?
Where a repair needs approval we will explain what we have found and what we recommend before proceeding. For complex faults, an accurate diagnosis is needed before a firm price can be given.
How long does a service take?
It depends on the vehicle and what the inspection finds. We'll give you a realistic idea for your car when we confirm the booking.
I bought my car from Stockport Motors — what does that mean here?
Stockport Mechanics is the workshop side of the same group, so servicing, repairs and diagnostics continue with people who already know the cars the group sells.
