MOT in Stockport
We'll sort your MOT for you
We're a servicing, repair and diagnostics workshop rather than a testing station — so we arrange the MOT through a local test centre, then handle any work it needs under one roof.
How it works
One drop-off, everything handled
Most people don't want to run their car between a test centre and a garage. This removes that.
- 1
Leave it with us
Drop your car at the workshop on Reddish Road. You don't need to arrange the test yourself or wait around at a test centre.
- 2
We get it tested
We take the vehicle to a local MOT testing station and deal with the paperwork on your behalf.
- 3
We explain the result
If it passes, you collect. If there are advisories or failure items, we tell you in plain English what each one actually means.
- 4
We fix what's needed
Any repair work is quoted and approved by you first, then carried out here — so it only needs one trip.
After the test
Advisories explained properly
An advisory isn't automatically a bill. We'll tell you which items are safety-critical now, which are worth doing at the next service, and which can simply be monitored.
Call the workshop on 07757 605323 if you'd rather talk it through.
FAQs
MOT questions
Do you have your own MOT testing station?
No. Stockport Mechanics is a service, repair and diagnostics workshop. We arrange the MOT test through a local testing station and handle everything around it for you.
Can you fix MOT failures?
Yes. Brakes, suspension, steering, lights, emissions and most other common failure items are everyday work for us. We'll quote before we touch anything.
Can I have a service and MOT at the same time?
Yes, and it's the sensible way to do it. We service the car, arrange the test, and deal with anything that comes back in one visit.
What's the difference between an MOT and a service?
An MOT is a legal roadworthiness check at a point in time. A service is preventative maintenance that keeps the car reliable and protects its warranty. Passing an MOT does not mean the car has been serviced.
