What does a car diagnostic test actually do?
A diagnostic test is not simply plugging in a code reader. Codes are the index, not the answer.
Reading the systems
The vehicle's modules are interrogated for stored and pending fault codes — engine, ABS, airbag, body and comfort systems as relevant to the complaint.
Checking live data
Sensor values are then watched while the engine runs, and on a road test if needed. This is what separates a sensor that is faulty from a sensor that is correctly reporting a problem elsewhere.
What you get
An explanation in plain English of what has been found, what we recommend, and what it means if you leave it. Where further investigation is needed, we say so rather than guessing.
